Master of None: S1 Episode 10: Finale
"Do you Dev,
Take Rachel to be your partner in a possibly outdated institution, in order to have a quote/unquote normal life. Are you ready to give up an idealistic search for a soulmate and try to make it work with Rachel so you can move forward with your life? I do.
And do you Rachel, promise to make a crazy eternal bond with this gentleman you happen to be dating at this stage in your life when people normally get married? I do.
I know pronounce you, two people that might realize they made an unfortunate mistake in about 3 years."
I thought this scene was both humorous and insightful. It highlighted some of our societal constructs of what is expected of us at certain ages. I prefer to let things be. Que sera sera.

Do not be daunted...
"Do not be daunted by the enormity of the world's grief. Do justly, now. Love mercy, now. Walk humbly now. You are not obligated to complete the work, but neither are you free to abandon it." - Rabbi Tarfon

A patient recovering from body image issues says:
"we spend our whole lives trying to get to a certain place or acquire certain things so that we may be happy. But true happiness is when you realise you are never going to get to that place or that even when you do you will still be dreaming of a new place or new things. So happiness has to start now, with what we have."

Mindfulness
“If you are distressed by anything external, the pain is not due to the thing itself, but to your estimate of it; and this you have the power to revoke at any moment.”

City of Hope - Thoughts of Love
"I hope that the world turns and that things get better. But what I hope most of all is that you understand what I mean, when I tell you that even though I do not know you and even though I may never meet you, laugh with you, cry with you, or kiss you, I love you, with all my heart, I love you."

Jefferson Memorial in Washington, D.C.
"I am not an advocate for frequent changes in laws and
constitutions, but laws and institutions must go hand in hand with the progress
of the human mind. As that becomes more developed, more enlightened, as new
discoveries are made, new truths discovered and manners and opinions change,
with the change of circumstances, institutions must advance also to keep pace
with the times. We might as well require a man to wear still the coat which
fitted him when a boy as civilized society to remain ever under the regimen of
their barbarous ancestors."
-Thomas Jefferson

The Journey
I was cleaning out my desk and found a folder from August 2012. I was at IFA in Berlin working a marketing gig then. Flash forward 3+ years and I'm a Social Worker. Life's a journey!
